Lamego Museum

With the establishment of the Portuguese Republic and the subsequent nationalization of Church property, the former Episcopal Palace was transformed into the Lamego Museum in 1917.

The museum’s permanent collection, displayed across nearly 30 rooms, reflects its rich history and evolution. It features furniture, tapestries, paintings, and sculptures, complemented by remarkable examples of goldsmithery, liturgical vestments, and traditional Portuguese tiles.

A highlight of the collection is the reassembly of several gilded altarpieces from the chapels of the now-vanished Convent of Chagas de Lamego.
